And before that...

A few orders of business.

1) today, my deadline passed to sell the other half of my AOL options. The going price was lower than either of my strike prices. Therefore, i got no more dollars. I'm bummed, but I think i'm ok. Easy come, easy go. I could insert a tirade in here about how etrade's slow ass gtc-order cancellation cost me about 2,000 bucks but you know what? i'm a let it go. No use crying over spilt milk, especially spilt milk that some clown handed to you for no good reason.

2) last night i caught myself telling someone that i had been here for two whole months. But you know what? it's been three. And what i say is: If time is flying, then shit, i must be having fun.

3) I am having fun. It's warm as fuck, i continue to love my apartment, my job gets better and better the more i learn to relax into it, the people i work with rule harder than anyone else i've ever known or imagined, this sigur ros album is changing my life for the better, and listen: the women of the LA metropolitan area deserve a reward of some sort, a medal of recognition, for their consistent non-pissery on the toilet seats of this fair state. Ladies here don't crouch and sprinkle, they use the fucking toilet like real human beings. It's refreshing as all hell. I have not seen a single piss-dribbled seat since i've been here. We could all learn something from the women of the LA metropolitan area.

4) my parents are adorable.

5) i haven't gotten my cable hooked up since i moved in. I have no television reception, and i'm wondering if i can keep it up. There have only been one or two times that i've wanted to just get on the couch and vegetate, but there have been a number of times i've heard about something that was going to be on that i wanted to see. And yet, somehow i survive not seeing those things. It's also nice not to be shelling out $60 a month. During the election, i just listened to the live audio feed from cnn.com and refreshed their site lots, and it was interesting cause i really felt like i wasn't missing out on a damn thing.

6) they have good food here.

7) mars has a bird, and i think... i think she might be the best pet ever. Best Pet. Ever. Above all mammals, and definitely above reptiles, the bird takes the pet cake. Devoted like a dog, sings sweetly (she seems to really like Ryan Adams, like consistently. it's kinda remarkable), and can take the affection she needs without demanding all your attention. Also, bird poop. Who doesn't like bird poop? It's good luck, my mom says.
