i like the cure.

This morning I was looking through my CDs for stuff I had never listened to or hadn't listened to enough. I picked:
The Shamen: Axis Mutatis, which I don't recall buying, cause i never liked the shamen. It appears that i got this when i was a rock critic intern, a remnant promo CD that none of the real rock critics wanted. I have a lot of CDs like that. They all suck. This one is nuh-ho exception. No song created on synthesizers and samplers should ever have lyrics with "thee" in them. And especially not repeatedly. In multiple songs.
I also picked The Cure: Wild Mood Swings. I like the cure a lot. I have really really good memories of liking the cure. Some of my like for the cure is sentimental, and then some of it is just godDAMN they're good. And i don't mean "were" good either, i mean they're a good band, still. Ok, i'm not 100% qualified to say that cause i don't have the album with the song that went "lime green lime green and tangerine" and i don't think i want it. But shit, wild mood swings? Totally good album.
Me and the Cure and my friend Leah used to have wild rock and roll teenage times together. The cure is at least 50% about being a teenager, and being engaged in your life and not just about being sad, i mean my favorite cure moments were singing "Catch" at the top of my lungs with Leah in the park under the moon when we were 14. And also lots and lots of wanton sex and boys with eyeliner. Before i became cynical and demanding and horrible. Before i realized my feelings weren't really all that unique, and before Rob Frohnapfel let his brown hair grow back in and wanted to hang out with regular blonde girls named heather. Back when rob was full of life, and not just happy life, but just vitality period, happy, sad, angry, teenage, rock and roll.
And me too.
I don't know if i could get along with someone who couldn't name their favorite cure album. I don't care which one it is, but if you don't have one, why are we talking, you know?
One time i made out with this big burly hardcore boy up in boston and it was kind of a surprise hookup and then even more surprising, he pops disintegration into the stereo. Everyone likes the cure. I like the cure.
you like the cure.
