In other news:

My CD player in my car is a piece of crap (Honda Factory Issue. If you're thinking about it, DON'T.) and for the past several months will only play certain CDs willingly. Some it can be coaxed into playing if I let it spit them out and suck them back in and spit them out and suck them back in for the first, you know, HALF HOUR; others it will never play at all. But here's what's truly fascinating; there seems to be a pattern to the ones it will accept and play without complaint.

It only likes Belle and Sebastian and their spawn. And Built to Spill: Keep it like a secret. Which I think has something to do with the fact that Built to Spill has a word that begins with B and a word that begins with S and another word inbetween that you don't capitalize, and it has a double L in it, though in the wrong word. I'm pretty sure that's it. (Oh yeah, it also plays Ann's copy of the most recent Lungfish album, which I attribute to the fact that Dan Higgs wears two pairs of pants, and also because the best line on that record is the Paralllllllelllllll lines one and that has lots of Ls too... see! Isn't it weird?)

Originally it only liked looper and built to spill; then i noticed it would play If You're Feeling Sinister, and then i got the lazy line painter jane box set, and you know what? It will play EVERY ONE of those THREE separate EPs without even thinking about it. It doesn't like any of my major label stuff, so i don't think it's a matter of CD pressing quality. And previously it seemed really random because like I had someone else's Built to Spill in my car and theirs wouldn't play, whereas mine will. So I was like, wow, i guess it's a matter of a quirk that can vary from each individual pressing of a CD.

But then this with the boxset... it's too weird. And you know, I guess I could have done worse with what it will play, but chen cannot live on belle and sebastian and related bands (and built to spill and ann's copy of unanimous hour) alone.
