Man, I had another one of those perfect saturdays. We gotta order that shit in bulk, cause I'm addicted.

Me, Cynthia and Ryan Nelson headed up to Philly for the day to watch fantsy artists do their fantsy shit at the ICA in philly. Ryan Murphy (who, you may recall, rules) was there filming, and that was nice, cause I never see him. Actually, let's talk fantsy: have you ever seen Barry McGee's work? Cause here, if not. Anyway, the man's shit KILLS me, with a gun, and a knife, AND piano wire. AND POISON. I don't know what to say about it without sounding pretentious, but the one thing I think i can safely say is that.. he used to do these sphere things, like the size of those big exercise balls that are all the rage, but bigger, and then draw characters on them draped over on their bellies in this pose of complete surrender, maybe exhaustion really, and their little toes would point in and there would be no energy in them whatsoever, and when i looked at them, just standing there looking at them felt exactly the same as lying under your feather bed with your pillows piled up around you when it's dreary out and you are depressed and can't think of a single, solitary compelling reason to move a muscle, not to mention, you're not sure if you have muscles anymore at all for that matter, because you can't feel your limbs, because they are suspended in Fuh.

But it's more than that, I mean his images are more than "depressing" (not "more than depressing" like "a superlative of depressing".. i mean they have more things than that to offer) but shit, who the fuck am i. Ryan Nelson made some good points cause he always does, but if i try to repeat them they won't come out right. He does that with all my favorite comics too, like I'll just know i love it and that it hurts, and he'll show me why.

It's just good. And if you're anywhere near Philadelphia, you should come to the ICA between May 13th and August 4th and see the installation [I've been told over and over that the opening is the 12th but the ICA's site doesn't seem to think so, so I'm not sure]. It's him (TWIST), and ESPO and REAS, and they're building a bodega inside the ICA, as well as installing directly on the walls. It's gonna be sumfin else, is what it's gonna be.

ANYWAY, we had the best breakfast in bethesda on the way up, at the Tastee Diner, and then we didn't hit ANY of the Penn Relays traffic when we got into West Philly, and THEN we got a parking space directly across from the ICA. And THEN we had snacks at Kingdom which is the best restaurant ever, no fucking lie, it's reason enough to move to Philadelphia. AND THEN we had dinner at Jim and Becky's and Becky made the BEST food and Mars came and so it was me, mars, ryan, cynthia, jim, becky, and brian lynch, and we stayed up way too late talking and yelling and laughing and hugging the dogs and i saw Jim's new stuff and died AGAIN, and then Becky showed us HER new stuff, and I haven't seen anything she's done since that portrait show at the space, and then SHE killed me, cause she's going big again and the color is back, and so I died thrice on saturday. That's a lot of times to die, if you weren't sure.

Also, it's a lot of watching other people be rad, and wishing you were rad too.
