fairly boring redux

There was a dance party at Kansas saturday, so most of the weekend revolved around that. Friday night Ryan came over to pick through my CDs, and then we hung out with the crazy super duper thunder and lightning show, and I remembered how when I was in college and I would go back to Delaware for like a week each summer, there would always, always be a huge thunderstorm and I would go out on the driveway and get nice and soaked, so friday I decided to get nice and soaked, which was a good move, cause i didn't realize how drastically the sound quality changes when you're not under porch cover; it was 180 degrees of pure loud cracks and you could listen to path they took through the sky, and it's ok to stand in the rain when it's warm out, you don't get chilly at all. Then we went to El Pollo Rico and loved some chickens to death. That place is amazing. Ryan estimated that they maybe go through a thousand chickens a day, and while at first I balked, after a while it seemed like he might just be right. Which somehow makes it an even guiltier pleasure, but lawdzit taste good.

Saturday I cleaned up after Iodine's little catnip binge, the one that culminated in her lying on her back, holding the bag between her teeth and whipping her head from side to side like a fluffy little alligator, spraying catnip allll over the everything, then mashing her face into the rug, staying as low to the ground as possible like she just COULD NOT get close enough to that wild, wild drug. I started to wonder if her little kitty heart was having a little freak out, but she seems to have survived.

I finished reading "No More Prisons" by upski or william wimsatt or whatever he should be called, and I do recommend it, it did a number on me motivationwise. Right after that, I dug into "The Redneck Manifesto" by Jim Goad which is doing a different number on me, but I do have to say: I am a fan of Jim Goad. Answer Me! marked a very strange period in my pop culture life. I almost wish Jim Goad and Upski could unite and fix the world, but I think jim would beat upski up pretty fast, which is a shame, seeing as how hot upski is. I think he belongs in the House of Chen Receding Hairline Hottie Hall of Fame, if i ever bother to update it.
