weddings and the fetching of sweaters.
18:00:31, 1999-10-15
Ok, last weekend i went to Boston for my friend T.'s wedding and ok several observations:
1) T. and his new wife J. are the cutest couple ever. No denying it. I used to lack all this faith in the reality of marriage and even long term commitment, and then i met one cute couple, but then they kind of disintegrated before my eyes and I started to realize that codependent and psychotic doesn't equal happy and cute. Anyway. T. was sort of not such a good guy before J., and then J. came along and he like, instantly got better. I just have to tell you this story: me and T. were making flyers for some rock show and he had to pick up J. from work afterwards, and he's like "ok, i have to make J. a present before I go pick her up." This was like, your average Tuesday. So he takes some of the outtake flyers from the day's exploits, wraps them around these three adorable bundles of Japanese candy, and then attaches a piece of ahiru no pekkle paper to each one, and on the three little notes he wrote:
"YOU"
"FUCKING"
"RULE."
Again, this was just like, your average Tuesday. And now they're married, and the wedding was just beautiful. It was perfect. I'm so psyched for them. Some day, you know? And yet, no, not some day, because i don't think I'm capable of what they have. They're so together without being codependent, they're each so.. i hate the word, but they really are special. So fucking special. Anyway. 2) I had slept with four people at the wedding. Ha ha ha ha ha. Ha. That's gross. Ok. But so, another related observation: how come all these boys that used to be rock and roll pricks that cheated on their girlfriends or just refused to have girlfriends at all are now fetching their girlfriend's sweaters from their cars and studying to be NT admins, and these girls, while rad, are like "of course he fetches me my sweater, it's only natural." Why were these boys assholes to me? Not really assholes but just so ... not fetching me my sweater. 3) which reminds me: Sex and the City is hitting way too too close to home in those last, like 10 episodes. I hate how much i love that show. ok bye.
